EXPERIENCED BAY AREA RESTAURANT INTERIOR DESIGN

Many restaurants we remodel do not require permits as they maybe considered "Cosmetic." Call Restaurant Design Concepts now at 510-436-7000 to determine what is required of you ...

Here are some things to consider before embarking on your restaurant re-design project:

1) Developing a restaurant vision: First off your goal should be to create a setting that "speaks to the customer." Are you looking to be hip, casual, or formal? Are you looking to attract upscale, middle-class, or budget-minded patrons? What kind of ambience do they expect? Do your food and beverage price points match the setting and location? Is your design and construction budget measure up to the challenge of meeting customer expectations? Your vision must address these important questions ... but don't worry, we are here to help. Our experienced designers will work with you to create the visual hues most desirable, what textures, what colors, what type of seating, table tops, table bases, countertops, lighting fixtures, and other accessories will be necessary to create the dining experience you envision for your customers.

2) Designing for restaurant functionality: The food preparation area and bar must be in-sync. Servers and patrons should be able to move freely. Is the bar area and kitchen area designed so traffic congestion is minimized for staff and patrons? Can beverages and drinks be served quickly? Is the kitchen designed the way your chef wants it? From where will dishes and drinks be delivered to your customers? At Restaurant Design Concepts in Oakland, CA, we offer free initial consultation for restaurant remodeling projects. What makes us different from most restaurant design companies besides our experience and expertise is that we offer architectural design services, interior restaurant design services, and restaurant supplies (including furniture) all under one roof.

3) Design space: We have experience working with large and small restaurant remodeling space. We are experienced at parceling larger restaurant dining areas into smaller, more intimate ones, with the use of screens, booths and banquettes. Really big and airy type restaurant spaces can often by enhanced with large artwork on the walls, columns, fireplaces, mirrored poles and so on. Or perhaps you want your restaurant designed for "people watching?" These are things you need to ask yourself before "breaking ground" on any new restaurant design remodeling project.

4) Color: As with your wine and food parings don't underestimate color and the impact it will have on your restaurant. Used correctly, color (when combined with proper lighting) conveys a rare ambiance and attitude and is in essence the backdrop for your menu.

5) Sound: Achieving the best acoustics within and around your restaurant space is important. When doing a restaurant remodeling project it's important to consider the best materials, textures and shapes that will enhance the sound environment.

6) Light: The impact lighting has on restaurant design is important. Lighting's best application, of course, is the ability to illuminate central focal points. A special piece of artwork, a uniquely textured pillar or wall, a tabletop bathed in pools of light in a semi-dark room, for example, can create a sense of intimacy you may be looking for.

7) Height: The use of your ceiling, and its height, are very important when considering restaurant redesign work. Properly designed ceilings act as the backdrop, so to speak, blending together the room's lighting, color and texture. Ceilings can define space in an otherwise empty room. Ceiling height modulates a room's sense of openness and intimacy while ceiling design, if elaborate, provide a well defined visual experience used to enhance a theme or convey a particular message.
